Beautician is a word for people who deal in aesthetics. It’s about being pretty. It’s temporary. It’s less than skin deep. We believe in skin therapists. Educated professionals who keep your skin healthy for life. Who know the difference between quick fixes and real results. Even for their own skin.

Our mission at Skin on Market is to educate our guests on achieving healthy sexy skin while offering insanely great customer service. We call it skinformation.

Why did you want to become a skin care therapist?
Growing up I loved the “beauty” industry, but didn’t know it was possible to make it a career. I went to college and did the corporate career thing, but I struggled with my skin and started looking for answers. I become obsessed with spa services and products. I decided to become and esthetician and open my own vocational school. Before opening the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology, I worked at the Nob Hill Spa and trained with different skin care lines before committing to Dermalogica. The education with Dermalogica and the International Dermal Institute is unparalleled and the results speak for themselves.

What is your favorite part of a skin care treatment?
OOOOH! I love extractions. It is very rewarding to help show an acne-prone client the path to healthy skin.

What are your 3 favorite Dermalogica products?
That’s like asking someone to choose their favorite kid! But if you insist:
·Special Cleansing Gel
·Antioxidant Hydrating Mist
·Lip Renewal Complex.

What are a few things that most people wouldn't know about you?
I love all homemade cookies, cakes and pies! I want Huevos Rancheros every morning for breakfast. I was the captain of my HS cheerleading team and a varsity rower in college.

·Overnight Clearing Gel is a life saver! Its a great hydrator while packing a serious healing treatment.

Abbey Beltram, Skin Therapist

Hometown: Santa Cruz, CA
Education: Mills College, San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology, International Dermal Institute
Experience: Dermalogica Certified
Hobbies: Cooking, listening to true crime podcasts, and long walks in any redwood forest

Why did you want to become a skin care therapist?
I’ve always used skincare as self-care, especially when I was in college. By my senior year, I was spending more time on my skincare regimen than studying for finals and I realized I should create a career out of a hobby I was passionate about. It is so rewarding to spend everyday learning about skin and helping others discover healthy skin.

What is your favorite part of a skin care treatment?
Exfoliation, for sure! It is such an important part of creating balance and harmony in the skin, and you can also see immediate results from a great, high level exfoliation.

What are your 3 favorite Dermalogica products?
·Precleanse is my all-time favorite product from Dermalogica because it helps to break down all of the stuff that comes into contact with your skin throughout the day to allow your second cleanse to really do its job.
·Skin Hydrating Booster is like a drink of water for the skin that helps to keep skin balanced and hydrated. No matter what I put my skin through, this always helps me look refreshed!
·Phyto Replenish Oil is so lightweight and nourishing that it is ideal for most skin types, even oily! While a lot of people can be weary of using oil as a moisturizer, it really sinks into the skin for a glowy finish that’s never greasy.

What are a few things that most people wouldn't know about you?
·I danced competitively for 12 years. We went to nationals every year!
·I lived in Italy when I was in 5th grade for a year.
·I make hands down the best grilled cheese, ever.
